Crew Rules & General Information

Pacer MUST have this Pacer Waiver filled out and brought with them to the Pacer points(there will be NONE on the course). No Pacers will be allowed without this form and a runner will be DISQUALIFIED if their pacer runs with them without completed waiver.


Excellent areas from which to view runners are Granite Bay, Beals Point, Nimbus Fish Hatchery, Sunrise Park, and Willaim B Pond Park.

1) Park fees: California State Parks District ($10). Last part of course (William B. Pond, Rossmoor Bar, and Sunrise Aid Stations are in the Sacramento County Parks District ($5). A sepearte pass is required from each system. Please help support our park systems.

2) NO crews are allowed at Horseshoe Bar. Vehicles parking in these areas will be ticketed and your runner will be disqualified.

3) Park in designated areas only. Rangers will be patrolling and giving tickets

4. A crew member is defined as any individual who provides material support to a runner in the event.

5. Crews may meet runners or assist them only at those aid stations specifically designated for crews.

6. Crews must stay Within 100-yard radius of the aid station while attending to their runner.

7. It is mandatory that crews use the portable toilets at the various checkpoints rather than relieving themselves in the immediate area of the aid station or on the trails.

8. Crews will be limited to one vehicle per runner at all checkpoints.

9. Crews must never park in such a way as to block traffic, access to the trail or checkpoint, or other parked cars.

10. No pets will be allowed at any of the checkpoints, anywhere along the trail.

11. Violations of any kind by crews, including but not limited to rule violations, disregarding access or parking instructions, or hassling Placer County officials or other Race personnel, will result in disqualification of the crew's runner, or other sanctions.

From I-80 West, take the Indian Hill exit at Newcastle. Proceed to Auburn-Folsom Rd. and turn left. Proceed to Pacific Ave.

From I-80 East, take the Newcastle exit, which is approximately two miles west of Auburn. Go straight at the traffic signal, this will put you on Indian Hill Road. Go up Indian Hill Road for approximately two miles to the signal light. Turn left on Auburn-Folsom Road. Follow Auburn-Folsom Road to Pacific Avenue. Turn right on Pacific Avenue and follow it approximately one mile to the Auburn Overlook (large parking lot on your right).

China Bar
Crews may walk to this area. No access by car(Park closed for season). It is 2.4 miles from the start at the Auburn Dam Overlook.

Rattlesnake Bar
Exit Auburn Overlook, follow Pacific Avenue to Folsom-Auburn Rd. and turn left. Proceed 4 miles to Newcastle Rd. and turn left. Follow Newcastle to Rattlesnake Bar Rd. and veer right(it becomes Rattlesnake Rd). Follow Rattlesnake Bar Rd. into the park and follow the paved road .7 miles to the Boat Launch Parking lot. Park in designated areas only. See map

Horseshoe Bar
No crew access.

Granite Bay
Exit Newcastle and turn left on Auburn-Folsom Rd. Drive 10 miles, turn left on Douglas Blvd. Follow Douglas to the ticket kiosk. Travel one mile(3rd stop sign) and turn right into Granite Beach parking lot. Walk to the aid station, which is located in the horse assembly area. You cannot park at the horse assembly area.

Beals Point
Exit Granite Bay and turn left on Folsom-Auburn Road. Drive 2.7 miles and turn left into Beals Point. Follow the road 2.2 miles to the parking lot. Aid station is in back right hand side. $10 parking fee(Daily pass) is required which is good at all State parks.

Negro Bar
Exit the Beals Point Aid Station and turn left on Folsom-Auburn Road. Proceed Proceed 2.7 miles and turn right on to Greenback Lane. Proceed 0.3 miles and turn left into Negro Bar State Park. After passing kiosk, take right hand turn and follow road to right. See map. $10 parking fee(Daily pass) is required which is good at all State parks.

Fish Hatchery
Exit Negro Bar and turn left on Greenback Lane. Proceed 2.7 miles and turn left on Hazel. Proceed 2.3 miles make a right turn at Gold Country Blvd Intersection(after crossing river) on Hazel Ave. Drive .1 miles and make a right turn(just past Nimbus Fish Hatchery) into the Sacramento County Park. Follow road until you get to self pay station. Park in gravel parking lot on the right. See map

Sunrise Bridge
Exit the Fish Hatchery Aid Station and turn right turn at Gold Country Blvd. Drive 3.0 miles and turn right on Sunrise. Drive 0.1 miles and turn right on South Bridge Street. Drive 0.4 miles into park. Go past kiosk and turn left at stop sign. Drive 0.4 miles watching for speed bumps and stop signs. Observe stop signs as bike trail crosses the road. Park in parking lot. Aid station is on bike trail. See map.

Rossmoor Bar:
Return to Sunrise. You cannot turn left on Sunrise. The direction you need to be heading is South, so you will have to turn right on Sunrise, and get into the far left lane as soon as possible. Cross the American River Bridge. Drive 0.7 miles and do a U-turn at Fair Oaks Boulevard. Again cross the bridge and make a right turn at the third red light, Coloma Road(1.5 miles from turn at Fair Oaks). Drive 0.8 miles and turn right on Elmanto. Turn left on Ambassador(do not go straight into park). Drive 0.6 miles and turn right Rossmor. Enter park. Go 0.8 mile to end of road. This is a Sacramento Country park which requires a $5.00 parking fee.
**Observe stop signs as bike trail crosses road.

William B Pond
Leave Rossmoor Bar and turn left at Coloma Road. Drive .6 miles and turn left on Sunrise. Travel 1.5 miles on Sunrise and turn left at Fair Oaks. Follow Fair Oaks 3.1 miles and turn left. Fair Oaks Blvd curves to the left at this point. Proceed 3.4 miles. Follow Fair Oaks to Arden Way and turn left. Follow Arden Way 0.7 miles and enter the William Pond Recreation Area. This is a Sacramento Country park which requires a $5.00 parking fee. See map.

Watt Avenue
Follow Arden Way back to Fair Oaks Blvd and turn left. Drive 2.6 miles to Watt Ave and turn left. Follow Watt Ave .3 miles and turn right at American River Dr. See map

Finish

From the Bay Area take I-80 east to the I-80/Hwy. 50/Capital City Fwy. interchange. Proceed east on the Hwy. 50 for 8.5 miles. Take the Howe Ave exit. Turn left on Howe Avenue. Turn left on University Ave. (3rd stoplight after you cross over the American River Bridge). Drive 0.8 miles down University and look for signs directing you to short or long-term parking near the pedestrian ramp leading up to Guy West Bridge. Short-term parking is for those runners that will not be leaving their vehicle at the start line. Use long-term parking if you will be leaving your vehicle at the start for the remainder of the day.

From Placerville, take Hwy. 50 west to Howe Avenue. Turn right (north) on Howe Ave. Turn left on University Ave. (3rd stoplight after you cross over the American River Bridge). Drive 0.8 miles down University and look for signs directing you to short or long-term parking near the pedestrian ramp leading up to Guy West Bridge.
